BENOIT MOREAU Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Fairendes" 2021

Wine Region: Burgundy - France

Grape: Chardonnay

Tasting notes: "The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Fairendes was produced from a 0.10-hectare domaine parcel, whereas Moreau's 2020 bottling from the same climat came from must purchased from a high-quality grower, so the origins of this cuvée have changed. It's a terrific effort, mingling notes of pear and citrus oil with notions of white flowers and nutmeg in an inviting bouquet, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and tensile palate of real sensuality and finesse. Vibrant and precise, it's well worth seeking out." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

About the winery:
Following the division of Domaine Bernard Moreau in November 2020, Benoit Moreau took his share of the vineyard to start his own estate. Before the separation, Bernard’s sons, Alex and Benoit, worked in the family estate, Domaine Bernard Moreau, along with their father until 1999. Later Alex and Benoit became the sole custodians of the family domain for the last 21 years, from 1999 to 2020. The first vintage from Benoit’s own vineyard is 2021. "Moreau is clearly an accomplished winemaker who is hitting the ground running. Overnight, a new star has been added to Chassagne's firmament, and importers will want to beat a path to Benoit's door." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
