Domaine DIDIER DAGUENEAU "Les Jardins de Babylone" Sec 2016
Wine Region: South-West - France
Grape: Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Courbu, Camaralet, Lauzet
Tasting notes: The nose is powerful, exotic, honeyed, lemony and full-bodied with an enormous minty freshness. Both completely dry and extremely dense, it offers a tapered palate reminiscent of the texture and thickness of a Grand Cru from the Cote de Beaune, but with a completely unique aromatic and taste profile. The iodized frame lengthens the finish and highlights the spicy notes.
About the winery:
Didier Dagueneau is the fourth-generation of winemaker in the small village of St. Andelain in Loire-Valley. He created a cult following for his Sauvignon Blanc in the Pouilly-Fume appellation. In 2008, his children took over the 11 hectares vineyard. His son, Benjamin, oversees the winemaking and his daughter, Charlotte, takes care of the running of the business. The Dagueneau family makes limited quantities of wine from their small plots of land, with a reputation of making some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
