Domaine FRANCOIS ROUSSET-MARTIN Cotes du Jura "Meme Marie" 2018
Wine Region: Jura - France
Grape: Savagnin, Chardonnay
Tasting notes: "Even if what I tasted was not exactly the final blend, I sampled a 50/50 blend of Savagnin and Chardonnay that will be one of the components of the 2018 Cotes du Jura Memee Marie, where the Savagnin ages sous voile for a few months and then is blended with the Chardonnay and matured exclusively in stainless steel. This wine set the tone of the tasting, showing the clean style and simplicity of fruit of this cuvee of Savagnin grown on gray marl soils and Chardonnay grown on stonier soils. It shows a little medicinal but is serious, dry, tasty and easy to drink. This white is named after his grandmother." - Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate
About the winery: Francois Rousset-Martin comes from a long line of winemaking family as both of his great-grandfather and grandfather were vine growers in Jura. Growing up in Burgundy, Francois would often spend his time between Burgundy and Jura helping his father while making wine. After graduating from his oenology degree, he started to make wine in Southern Rhone as well as in Languedoc. He eventually returned to Jura in 2007 to take over the family vineyard and to make his own wine in the village of Nevy-sur-Seille. It's not difficult to see the influence of Burgundy winemaking as Francois believes ouille (topping up) style and single-vineyard are the key elements to show the unique terroir characteristics of each vineyard faithfully.
