The nose here is quite complex, with dark fruit, tobacco and liquorice. On the palate, it is powerful with soft tannins and a nice freshness. Long finish of black fruit and spice aromas.

THE STORY: Maison Trénel was founded in 1928 and is famous for its range of Beaujolais and South Burgundy wines but also for the production of fruit liqueurs like Crème de Cassis. The estate was managed by the Trénel until 2015 when it was bought by Michel Chapoutier, star of the Rhône Valley and one of the most successful winemakers of the last decade. Its soil, a mix of clay and granite, ensures a stable water supply throughout the year and thanks to its south exposure, the grapes ripen optimally to produce a truly exceptional wine
