STEPHANE OGIER Cotes-du-Rhone "Le Temps est venu" 2017 - Jeroboam 3L
Wine Region: Rhone-Valley, France
Grape: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre
Tasting notes: The nose is fruity with aromas of ripe cherries and spices. This wine is medium body with lively acidity and silky tannins.
About the winery: Ogier family has been settled for 7 generations in the small village of Ampuis, in Cote- Rotie. In 1983, Michel Ogier stopped selling his grapes to the cooperative cellar and started to vinify and bottle his wines on his own. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, his son, Stephane left home to work with some of the best winemakers in Burgundy and abroad. In 1997 he took over the family estate. The domain is spread over 27 hectares and produces about fifteen different Cuvees. The terroir is characterized by a Leucogneiss, Micaschistes and stony soils with a mild climate. These bring depth, smokiness and minerality to the wine. Stephane always though that great wines begin with a great work in the vineyard. With a precise care of its soil, sometimes with the help of horse, and with constant attention his grapes are one of the best from Cote Blonde and Cote Brune, the 2 best terroirs of Cote-Rotie.
