Tasting notes: "Sourced largely from Malleval, Ogier's 2018 Saint Joseph le Passage features classic Syrah elements of asphalt, black olive, black pepper and blackberries. Medium to full-bodied, it boasts silky tannins but also a certain amount of muscle and intensity under that soft exterior. At 30% new oak (the highest proportion of new oak in any red wine in the cellar this year), the oak isn't obtrusive at all, blending seamlessly into the fruit." - Wine Advocate
About the winery: It was in 1997 that Stephane Ogier joined the family estate, rooted for seven generations on the hillsides of Ampuis. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Stephane left home to work with some of the best winemakers in Burgundy and abroad. By taking over from his father Michel, he chooses to do specific work on his different terroirs to reveal the uniqueness of these places full of history.
