Domaine MAXIME COTTENCEAU Montagny Village "Les Dazes" 2021
Wine Region: Burgundy - France
Grape: Chardonnay
Tasting notes: "Another superb new communal-level bottling from Cottenceau is the 2021 Montagny Les Dazés, from vines planted in relatively deep clay soils that include some muscaté selections of Chardonnay. Bursting with aromas of orange zest, citrus blossom and orchard fruit, the wine is medium-bodied, fleshy and aromatic, with a lively spine of acidity and a saline finish." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
About the winery:
Maxime Cottenceau studied viticulture and oenology in Beaune while working alongside the talented Vincent Dureuil from Domaine Dureuil-Janthial in Rully. After three years with him, Maxime settled back in his hometown of Buxy, just south of Givry in the Cote Chalonnaise, to take over the family estate. Maxime immediately put a stop to the use of herbicides, cultivating the soils and began organic conversion in 2020. Needless to say, all cellar work and vineyard work are done following the lunar cycles in true Biodynamic style. A truly exciting domain that is worth following up on.
