BONNET-COTTON

Pierre Cotton & Marine Bonnet

After working for a short time as a motorcycle mechanic, Pierre Cotton decided to become an oenologist at 20. Even if it was a natural choice, as his family has already a winery in Odenas since 1856, his career is quite unique. Instead of studying in Burgundy, he went to Loire Valley where he knew nothing about. He did an internship with the organic Domaine de la Bergerie and natural Anjou winemaker Jérôme Lambert. Back in Burgundy, he created his domain, in one of the most prestigious and fastest-growing Beaujolais regions. At the same time, he is assuming a growing role in the family estate's wines' vinification and marketing.

Today, Pierre runs the Domaine with Marine Bonnet.

Pierre & Marine cultivate around 13 hectares of vineyards, on the Beaujolais, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Regnie and Fleurie appellations. The red wines are coming from different plots with unique terroirs, mainly granite. Since 2017, he harvests 0.3 hectares of Beaujolais Blanc on an impressive vein of limestone near the Domaine, with the possibility to plant more Blanc in the future.

For each Cuvée, the vinification is semi-carbonic and is done in a large concrete tank with no sulfur added. The ageing lasts from 6 to 11 months, either in foudres and barrels or only in foudres.
