DOMAINE HUET
The Hwang Family & Jean-Bernard Berthomé
Domaine Huet founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston today has thirty hectares of Chenin planted on three plots: Haut-Lieu, Mont and Clos du Bourg. The estate was one of the precursors of the French vineyard's biodynamic culture. This method of cultivation which respects the soil, the plant and the environment, allows them to develop the character of our wines and top reserve the soils' authenticity.
Today Domaine Huet is owned and operated by American brother-sister duo, Sarah & Hugo Hwang who have kept the team intact, including manager Jean-Bernard Berthomé who joined the estate in 1979. With his years of experience working with the appellation's greatest terroirs, Jean-Bernard and his team are achieving incredible transparency, purity, and balance in the wines of this world-renowned estate.
The vineyard works are guided by the different rhythms of the planets, in the manner, more or less conscious, winemakers of past centuries.

The Vouvrillon grape variety is composed of a single type, the Chenin, more poetically called "Moonlight Plan". Although it is often declined in Vouvray ineffervescent, it is a grape variety which translates the soils and the vintages on the still wines marvellously. Recognized for their natural acidity and their captivating aromatic palette, Chenin's wines evolve slowly, gaining finesse and subtlety.
Softly over time, the universe reveals its mysteries. This is where Domaine Huet's winemakers patiently sought to discover the Chenin. Help the vine find its balance in its natural environment and the energies that surround it.
The biodynamic agriculture practised for more than twenty-five years contributes to reveal the essence of the terroirs in each of our cuvées. Thus, the flexibility of the brown clays of the Haut-Lieu, the chiselled flint of the Mont and the roundness of limestone Clos du Bourg give the Chenin an incomparable elegance.
But there are still many things to discover in the basement Vouvrillon.
