Jules Brochet
Domaine Jules Brochet represents the revival of a family heritage deeply rooted in Champagne. Based in Taissy, in the Montagne de Reims, the estate was established in 2015 by Pierric Brochet, who named the domaine after his great-grandfather, Jules Brochet.
What began with a modest 0.3 hectares has since expanded to 3.5 hectares of organically farmed vines, spread across four key areas: Taissy, Mailly-Champagne and Aÿ-Champagne, Barzy-sur-Marne, and the Massif de Saint-Thierry.
Pierric, who trained under Anselme Selosse in 2009, draws inspiration from some of Champagne’s most progressive minds, but his approach is deeply personal and grounded in observation, patience, and long-term vision.

After inheriting vineyards that had been farmed conventionally, he undertook a years-long effort to restore soil vitality and biodiversity, embracing a regenerative approach that avoids plowing, encourages natural cover crops, and integrates grazing sheep in the winter and spring months. Compost applications support microbial life, and grass is managed manually rather than chemically. While his practices are rooted in organics and biodynamics, Pierric remains pragmatic ready to adapt as the vineyard ecosystem evolves.
His philosophy extends into the cellar, where low-intervention winemaking reveals the nuances of site and vintage. All fermentations are spontaneous, guided by native yeasts, and take place in 228L barrels, primarily sourced from Cavin, François Frères, and Atelier Centre France. About 25% of barrels are renewed annually, contributing a gentle but noticeable oak signature. Fermentation occurs without temperature control; malolactic conversion is neither blocked nor forced, and sulfur is used minimally, added only at the time of pressing.
Harvest is typically later than his neighbors, as Pierric seeks full phenolic maturity brown seeds, ripe skins, and balanced fruit as a foundation for both structure and expressive aromatics.
The resulting wines are concentrated, deeply flavored, and marked by fine tension, with a supple patina of oak that integrates beautifully in youth. While approachable early, they remain layered and vibrant within a few years of disgorgement. These are Champagnes that speak with clarity, offering a direct line from soil to glass, shaped by thoughtful, adaptive farming and artisanal craftsmanship.
Today, Domaine Jules Brochet stands among Champagne’s new wave of vignerons balancing rigor with intuition, and tradition with renewal. As Pierric continues to refine his methods, the future promises even greater precision and depth. For those yet to discover his work, now is the time.
