Tasting notes: Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Quintet has a broody earth and sautéed herbs-laced nose with a core of baked cherries, red plums and mulberries plus a touch of new leather. Light-bodied and elegantly fruited in the mouth, the delicate red fruit flavors are nicely matched by a light grip of chewy tannins, finishing with great freshness.
About the winery: Mount Mary Vineyard is a family-owned estate located in Yarra Valley, Australia. Founded in 1971, it was one of the first vineyards planted in the area. The Middletons were inspired by the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy and sought a site to establish a vineyard entirely planted with French grape varieties. They found it in Mount Mary, a north-facing slope with ideal soil. The estate now has 30 acres under vine.
