COMTE ABBATUCCI

Jean-Charles & Faustine Abbatucci

The wine history of the Abbatucci estate dates back over a century. The generations have succeeded each other, passing on the family heritage and know-how in turn. In the 1960s, Antoine Abbatucci changed the vineyard's history, creating a conservatory of grape varieties endemic to his island, a real treasure of Corsican wine heritage. Eighteen varieties are thus planted on a single plot. His son Jean-Charles helped develop the return to the cultivation of those grapes, with other great Corsican winegrowers.

General of the French Revolution, diplomat or even minister during Napoleon III's reign, the Abbatucci family includes great men who have marked history with their incredible destiny. The family estate pays homage to them with its emblematic and confidential Cuvées Collection.

The Domaine Comte Abbatucci vineyard benefits from a privileged location in the Taravo Valley heart. It benefits from a superb northern exposure favouring a beautiful maturity of the grapes without going overboard; the vines are planted on granite arena soils which endow the wines with a unique minerality and freshness.

Respect for the lunar calendar cycle, mass selections and installation of rootstocks in line with the terroir, ploughing on horseback, grassing of the vines maintained by the herd of sheep of the Estate and vinification carried out with indigenous yeasts exclusively. The extreme precision of the titanic work carried out by Jean-Charles Abbatucci has borne fruit. Today, Domaine Comte Abbatucci ranks among the greatest wines of Corsica.
